Notes:
  1. Windows® 2000 Pro or Windows® XP Pro are limited to 10 inbound connections. XP Pro should be running at service pack 2 or higher. Please go to www.avimark.net/XPSP2FirewallChanges.pdf for SP2 firewall settings.Windows XP Professional 64 Bit edition is not supported by GlobalVet at this time. Windows XP Media Center Edition is NOT supported by GlobalVet.3.5” Floppy Disk Drives are NOT required by GlobalVet support but may be a good idea for PC Troubleshooting. If Cash Drawers or Lab Machines are necessary for your operation, at least one serial port is required (per peripheral)

  2. Site feature using Terminal Services will require the use of TCP/IP network ready printers or TCP/IP Print Server devices. GlobalVet technical Support does not provide support for Microsoft Products. Setup of Terminal Services is the sole responsibility of the installing technician or the clinic that chooses to use Terminal Services. Depending on the number of sites connecting to the server will determine how much RAM needs to be installed. Please consult a reputable Certified Terminal Server technician in your area. When using Server 2003 editions be sure to setup your DNS Service correctly. Failure to do so will cause SEVERE performance loss on your network.

  3. Windows® XP Tablet Edition is only recommended when using Tablet PC’s. DO NOT use Windows® XP Tablet Edition on a standard desktop workstation.

  4. The hospital environment, i.e., wall construction (such as concrete, brick or steel), X-ray machine, mirrors, security systems, fluorescent lighting or cordless phones will affect the way wireless functions. (Any disruption in network connectivity will produce errors and lock ups in GlobalVet) Consult your local wireless tech before making the decision to purchase wireless. Use the contact information below if you have any additional questions.

  5. Unsatisfactory performance may result when using the hardware configuration from the Minimum Requirements column.

  6. GlobalVet Support recommends Business class computers and Printers. Both HP and DELL sell these types of machines. Discount store, home quality and (non-professional) custom built machines are not recommended. Before making the decision to buy a custom built machine from a non commercial company, please ensure they are properly certified and that they use only the highest quality business class components. Using home based components is highly discouraged. Purchasing business class machines will increase reliability, performance and productivity within your office.

  7. Please be aware that there may be issues with peripheral devices such as scanners, printers, cameras, etc. not integrating with the GlobalVet program and Windows 98, 98SE and ME. This is due to vendors no longer supporting their product with the Windows 98 family of Operating Systems.

  8. Please visit http://www.avimark.net/vista-info.htm for the latest Vista information.
